- Nexus Energía awarded electricity supply contract by Renfe
Starting in October 2017 and for a period of four years, Nexus Energía will supply electricity to Renfe, powering a total of 70 supply points, including offices and workshops, consuming a total of 110 GWh. Nexus Energía presented the most competitive economic and technical bid thanks to its innovative optimisation and management tools.
One of the most novel aspects of the contract between Nexus Energía and Renfe was the selection of a price indexed to OMIE, specifically, a pass-through with deviations included in the margin. This method of purchasing electricity offers all the benefits of buying in the organised market, the same one used by energy resellers to supply their clients, and is cheaper in the long term than securing a fixed price, since no risk premiums are charged. This is why large companies are increasingly resorting to indexed prices for their electricity, even though historically most clients have opted for the fixed price option in Spain.
Nexus Energía will also help Renfe to actively manage the efficiency at various locations through a power optimisation study of the various supply points.
Jon Macías, Sales Director at Nexus Energía, stated that “having a company as historic and symbolic as Renfe as one of our clients is a great source of pride for us”. He also noted that “Nexus Energía will always stand by those companies that want to improve their energy efficiency, since one of our ultimate goals is to make our economy more competitive”.Links of interest Pagina Web del Autor
