Do I have to make any changes to the installation when I switch electricity company?

The switch to Nexus Energía is just a formality. You don’t have to make any changes to your electrical installation. Your electricity service will be maintained during the switching process. We will do the paperwork and take care of it for you. So you don't have to tell your old energy company that you're switching. It’s that simple!

What electricity rate should I get with Nexus Energía?

We have the best electricity rate you need based on your energy habits and your needs. If you don't want to worry about when you use energy and enjoy 1 single price for any time, we recommend the Stable Plan flat rate. You pay according to your energy use. If you prefer not to worry about how much you use, we have the Liberty Plan rate, where you pay the same each month. In this case, the rate is estimated based on previous consumption and is regularised at the end of the year in accordance with actual consumption.

If you prefer to use energy at cost price with 3 time bands (peak, flat, off-peak) and 3 prices, and have greater control of market prices, we recommend the Cost Price Plan rate with hourly discrimination.

How much power should I get?

The contracted power is the maximum power that can be requested. The PCS (power control switch) that you have installed prevents you from demanding more power. If you exceed the contracted power, the fuses blow.

The power you need to contract has to do with the appliances you have, how you use them and how many you use at the same time. The size of the house and how many you are at home also matters. You can contract any amount as long as it is below 15 kW (or equal to 15). The more adjusted the calculation of the electrical power is to your needs, the less you will notice it on your electricity bill.

One part of your bill refers to how much energy you consume and another to the power you have contracted. With the new 2.0TD rate, you have 2 power periods: one at P1 (peak hours) and another at P2 (off-peak hours).

We have the best electricity rate you need based on your energy habits and your needs. If you prefer not to worry about how much you use, we have the Fixed Monthly Plan, where you pay the same each month. In this case, the rate is estimated based on previous consumption and is regularised at the end of the year in accordance with actual consumption.

If you prefer to use energy at cost price with 3 time bands (peak, flat, off-peak) and 3 prices, and have greater control of market prices, we recommend the Indexed Plan, your electricity rate with hourly discrimination.
The VPSC (Voluntary Price for the Small Consumer) tariff, currently the 2.0 TD, is the hourly electricity rate regulated by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. It always has hourly discrimination in three energy periods and two billing bands for the power contracted. In the free market, where we are, rates are offered with or without hourly discrimination.

With the 2.0TD rate, you have 2 power periods: one in P1 (Peak) and another in P2 (Off-peak). Depending on the time of day, you are assigned one or the other (regardless of whether you are on the Spanish mainland, the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla).

All weekends and public holidays have P2 power at all times. For example, at any time on a Saturday, your power is always P2.

For the 2.0 TD rate, you have 3 periods/energy prices: P1 (Peak), P2 (Flat) and P3 (Off-peak). If you want to save on your electricity bill, the hours when you can use energy more economically are the so-called off-peak period, that is, between midnight and 8 a.m., as well as all weekends and public holidays.

After this is the peak period, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This is the most expensive period because it is precisely when we consume the most energy: we get home and turn on the oven for dinner, we turn on the TV to watch the news, run hot water for the children's bath, etc.

Finally, there is the so-called flat period, with an intermediate cost, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m, and 10 p.m. and midnight. Every weekend and on public holidays, this rate had period 3 at all times.
The rise in electricity bills is due to the increase in prices that is taking place in the wholesale market (pool) and is due to several factors. Mainly, it is caused by the increase in the price of gas in international markets, a material used by combined cycle plants; the increase in CO2 emission allowances due to the fact that the European Union intends to reduce the use of fossil fuels; and high temperatures in summer and cold in winter.

The volatility of electricity prices affects you more or less depending on whether you are in the free or regulated market and depending on the rate you have contracted. In the regulated market you will have the VPSC tariff, currently the 2.0TD, offered by reference marketers. This is the hourly electricity rate regulated by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. It always has hourly discrimination in three energy periods and two billing bands for the power contracted. In the free market, where we are, we offer you rates with or without hourly discrimination, and flat electricity rates or fixed prices with monthly installments for what you use, or fixed monthly installments so that you don't have to worry about when or how much you use.
If you join Nexus Energía, you will have an initial bill for the monthly installment that will be issued when they confirm that you are now our customer. This first bill will most likely not be for the total monthly installment, but instead partial, depending on the days that are billed that month. Afterwards, at the start of the month, you will receive 11 bills with the same fixed monthly installment, corresponding to the rate we have calculated. You can see your bills any time in the Customer Area.

Finally, in the last month, we will send a partial bill again, also taking into account the days in which the contract will be active that month. In the end, the amount paid on bills is for 12 monthly installments of the same amount. The price that appears on your bill is equivalent to the contract price divided by 365 days of the year and stated in € cents/kW per day and on the contract it appears in €/kW year.

At the same time, your meter readings tell us your actual consumption. This way we will tell you if this is above or below the one set in your Esfera rate at all times! And so you don't have any doubts, all the details are in the energy use reports in your Customer Area.
This does not happen often, but if it does, it may be due to the courier service or an error in the email. If this happens, you can contact info@nexusenergia.com or call us on 900 67 01 40.
We notify you when you have a new bill available by sending you an email that will inform you of the amount and you will be able to find the link to access it in your Customer Area where you can see the complete bill.
The party responsible for taking the readings is the distributor according to the regulations. You can find information about your readings in your Customer Area on our website.
Whenever we can, we bill you based on actual measurements. If the bill appears as estimated, it is because the distributor, who is legally responsible for reading the meter, has not given us the readings. This information is constantly regularised with the information received from the distributor in subsequent invoices.

A Nexus Energía reading is obtained through the best information available to us on the billing date. If no reference data is available (if information from the distributor has not yet arrived), Nexus Energía will make the calculation based on the consumption data provided by the customer at the signing of the contract, according to historical data from that same supply point or other projections always based on the best information available at any given time. However, normally we do not receive the reading from the distributor at the end of the month, but in the middle, which allows the amount to be extrapolated in order to bill you for the remaining days of the month. This information is constantly regularised in subsequent bills with the information received from the distributor.
You can check the power you have contracted (in kW) both in your Customer Area and in the central part of the efficiency report that we send you periodically.

Regulated components are those stipulated by the government by law. They are called tolls and charges, which are itemised on your bill.

On the one hand, the tolls represent the costs associated with the distribution and transport of energy. On the other hand, the charges are the costs associated with energy policy, such as the financing of renewable energy.

Tolls and charges are applied to power (fixed component) and energy (variable component), i.e., we have energy and power tolls and energy and power charges.
A change of marketer has no effect on the maintenance of facilities. The owner and the party responsible for the maintenance of the electrical network is the Distributor. Nexus Energía, as the energy marketer, will mediate on your behalf and take the steps required to solve these problems, but ultimately responsibility will always lie with the Distributor.
The CUPS is like the meter’s passport number. The easiest way to find it is in the customer data of your electricity bill where you can see what your Universal Supply Point Code (CUPS, in Spanish) is. You can also find it on your meter. It is an important piece of information since it identifies your exact supply point.
You can use 100% green energy in your home and pay less on your bill. We offer you competitive prices and with no minimum-term contract.

If you are interested, you have to register on the website to start the contract process. You give us your details, choose which solar energy producer you want us to buy your energy from and sign the contract via email.

There you can check online or download all your bills, your energy use reports and your contract. You can also check your payments, how much energy and CO2 you have been consuming and information about your solar energy plant.
To switch to Nexus Energía, you need the CUPS number, the supply point address, the product you want to contract, the power you want to contract and direct debit details.

The documentation needed to be able to register a new supply with us will depend on each particular case, but it will be both your electricity distributor and the industry office in your area that can tell you the documentation that you have to provide. When a new supply is registered, an electrical installation certificate is required. This is an official document that certifies that an installation meets all the necessary requirements to supply energy, as well as its energy efficiency rating and its maximum permissible power.
Registering with Nexus Energía is free. It may entail some cost due to the Distributor's activity. In that case, the Distributor usually bills Nexus Energía directly and we transfer it to you without adding any margin.
Not at all. The supply is guaranteed by law, and the electricity distribution network is the same for all marketers. Any fault in the supply will not cause problems for customers from different marketers. The liberalisation of the electricity market has separated the distribution and marketing activities so that this does not happen.
You won't be left without electricity when switching marketer, whatever your previous company and your new choice are. The switch to Nexus Energía is just a formality.
When we receive confirmation from the distributor about the change of marketer, we can activate your contract. This tends to take 4 to 5 days.

If you are contracting a new supply, the time required tends to be between 5 and 7 days.

In both cases, we will notify you by email when we begin to bill you.
Any person of legal age who is the owner of a supply point can contract an electricity and gas supply contract.
No. You can end your contract with Nexus Energía whenever you want without having to pay any penalties. You're free!
The month before the contract with us ends, you will receive an email informing you of the end of your contract and the price of the new contract. If we do not hear otherwise from you, the contract will be renewed automatically.
If you need gas in your home, we can provide it. We adapt to your needs and offer you different natural gas options from a fixed price to an indexed price. We also help you save.
You can call us on 900 67 01 40 or send an email to info@nexusenergia.com, and a sales manager will get in touch with you.
When you contract a new electricity and/or gas supply with us, you will automatically receive an email to access your Customer Area, where you can check your energy consumption, bills and see your contract.
You can see it in your Customer Area, on all your bills and also on the contract you sign with us.
In your Customer Area, you will find all the detailed information on the evolution of your consumption displayed visually: day by day, month by month, the monthly average and the daily average.
You can request your power to be modified in the My Management section. We will transfer your request to your Electric Distributor who will make the change .

They may have to change the PCS (power control switch) that is in your house to adapt it to the new power. In that case, we will contact you and notify you. The change of PCS will not be necessary if your electricity meter is one of the new "smart meters". The process can take several weeks to complete as it does not depend entirely on us.
That’s easy! You can do this by entering your Customer Area in the My Management section. There you can change your contact details, bank account details and request a change of power.
Periodically, we send you your version of the efficiency report. We appeared on the market a few years ago and have been a marketer providing energy so that you can understand your consumption and learn how to use it better. For this reason, we clearly saw the need to create a report in which customers can clearly see what is essential, to begin to start that change in mentality and habits.

The most important thing about this report is that it is unique: it is just for you. It is very simple and easy to understand and includes the key concepts to be able to carry out efficient energy consumption on a constant basis. On the one hand, it shows the basic information and on the other, tips for efficiency.

The aim is to help you consume efficiently and therefore be more energy efficient.
The owner and the party responsible for the maintenance of the electrical network is the Distributor. Nexus Energía, as the marketer will mediate on your behalf and take the steps required to solve these problems, but ultimately responsibility will always lie with the Distributor.
Nexus Energía has taken the organisational measures required to refer to the competent body in social service issues in each Region, the lists of holders who have been reliably notified of the non-payment of a supply bill. This is done according to the model stipulated in annex V of Royal Decree 897/2017, of 6 October, which regulates the figure of vulnerable consumers, the social discount rate and other protection measures for domestic electricity consumers.
Nexus Energía is affiliated to the Consumer Arbitration System (S.A.C., in Spanish), which is a free public service to resolve conflicts between consumers and companies voluntarily and without having to go to ordinary courts. Nexus Energía is affiliated to the arbitration system through the National Consumer Arbitration Board.

    1. Questions before resorting to the Arbitration System

To go to arbitration, the consumer must make sure that their claim falls within the following cases: (i) those related to contracting, billing, collection and/or the serviced received by the marketer; (ii) that the claim has been previously submitted to NEXUS ENERGÍA customer service and no reply received within one (1) month or, where a reply has been received, they are not satisfied.

    2. Arbitration System Procedure

Once the consumer has verified that their claim meets the requirements described in the previous paragraph, they may submit a request to the National Consumer Arbitration Board or through a Consumer Association. Below is the link to the National Consumer Arbitration Board https://www.mscbs.gob.es/consumo/resolucionConflictos/sistemaArbitral/organos/juntasArbitrales/nacional.htm

The arbitration process includes a preliminary mediation phase to try to resolve the claims by means of an amicable agreement without the need for the intervention of the arbitrators in the arbitration system, whose decision is binding for the parties. If an agreement is reached in this preliminary phase of mediation, it is included in a consent award.

In the event that the prior mediation referred to in the previous paragraph ends without an amicable agreement between the entrepreneur and the consumer, the consumer may choose to initiate the arbitration procedure, in which the parties must submit all available documentation, responses, arguments and evidence. In general, arbitration is carried out by non-face-to-face telematic means. The procedure ends with an arbitration award, which determines the resolution of the claim and which is mandatory, as it has the same validity as a court ruling.

We must also bear in mind that there are a series of claims that may not be subject to arbitration:

    - Claims that depend on the distribution company, such as meter reading, network extension, access granting, inspection, quality of supply (including its continuity or interruption) and possible damages caused by incidents in the electricity network.

    - Those issues that arise from fraud in the network (including metering equipment), such as manual, electronic or any type of interventions that are carried out in order to disturb the correct supply.

    - Matters related to the application of State and Regional regulations on energy poverty.

    - Matters on which there is already a firm and final court decision.

    - The issues in which, according to current legislation, the Public Prosecution Service must intervene.

On the other hand, in accordance with the provisions of European Law, there is a European Commission online litigation review platform, accessible at the following link: http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/
Using the information on your energy consumption in the last period, we can show you your consumption behavior. In relation to optimal consumption, we make some simple recommendations in the personalised efficiency report that we send you so that, if you put them into practice, you can see changes in a short time, and the savings both in energy and in your pocket.
Marketers buy electricity from distributors, and bill the end consumer. Since the liberalisation of the energy market in Spain in 2009, the two figures that can operate in the electricity market are the electricity distributors and marketers.

You can freely choose which electricity and gas marketer you want to sign a contract with.

Nexus Energía was founded in 2000 when a dozen distributors throughout Spain got together to create an electricity marketer that is committed to teaching its customers how a more efficient use of energy is possible and to promoting the development of renewable energies.
Knowing which market you are in is important when it comes to knowing how your rate works and understanding your consumption. To find out, you just have to look at the top of your electricity bill. The rate for each home depends on your marketer and what is paid on each electricity bill depends on the contracted rate.

There are two markets: the regulated market and the free market. Free-market marketers offer all kinds of offers, both market-indexed prices and fixed prices, usually for an annual period.

Regulated marketers, which are those authorised by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, apply the VPSC (Voluntary Price for the Small Consumer) regulated tariff. The VPSC tariff has a price that changes hour by hour and day by day according to supply-demand between those who produce energy (the generating company) and those who sell it to the consumer (the marketer).

Therefore, the daily evolution of the market and the fluctuation of prices affects consumers who are in the regulated market more directly.
We understand renewable or green energy as electricity that has been generated through renewable energy sources; that is, those that use natural resources that are estimated to be unlimited. What are they?
    1. Solar energy that uses the sun as a resource

    2. Wind energy that uses the wind as a resource

    3. Hydraulic energy, which uses river water as a resource

    4. Biomass, which uses crop or forest residues

    5. The energy obtained from organic waste (manure, sludge, MSW)

In contrast to other forms of conventional generation such as thermal or nuclear, these technologies do not pollute the environment, as they do not contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases, nor do they generate radioactive waste.
The energy you consume is generated by electricity generating companies in different types of generation plants: photovoltaic, thermal, nuclear, hydraulic plants, etc.
Nexus Energía is a certified 100% green energy company. The European Union grants guarantee of origin certificates to that energy supplied that comes from renewable energy production plants. This is the procedure to ensure that consumers support, if you consider it appropriate, the companies that can give you such guarantees of origin.

Currently, there is no other way to support renewable energy as a consumer. Obviously, we cannot guarantee that your received electrons come from a specific plant, but you can be sure that we have put into the network as many "renewable electrons" as you consume as a Nexus Energía customer.
