- Nexus Energía will supply renewable energy to the Terrassa city government.
On 23 May, an electricity supply contract was signed between the Terrassa city government and Nexus Energía, which was awarded lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 following a public tender. These lots combine 663 supply points and a consumption in excess of 14 GWh, valued at an estimated €3,787,770.26. Nexus Energía was awarded the contract because it offered the best price, support services and green energy for all of the electricity supplied.
What’s new about this contract is that Nexus Energía will supply renewable electricity to the Terrassa city government by way of a novel market-indexed system that is being applied for the first time to a city government of Terrassa’s size. This method of purchasing electricity is widely used in the private sector since it’s considered to be a more efficient way to purchase electricity than paying a fixed price.
The advantages of buying electricity at a floating price include purchasing electricity at the real wholesale price without being charged risk premiums, and not having the risk of locking in the price for one or two years at a time when prices are high.
